The Crown Jewels (NC) Chapter of The Links, Incorporated has a deep commitment to positively impact the local community by delivering quality service projects that are aligned with our organization’s National and Area Strategic Objectives.

Members of the chapter contribute their creative energy, professional experience and individual passion towards the administration of our annual Scholarships and the execution of our Five (5) Program Facets: Services To Youth; The Arts; National Trends and Services; International Trends and Services; and Health and Human Services. The Crown Jewels (NC) Chapter has been performing community service activities in the Charlotte metropolitan area for the past 30 years.

Some of the hallmarks of our community service programming include a long-standing partnership with the Phillip O. Berry Academy of Technology, a STEM Magnet high school in Charlotte, where we established a junior National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE) chapter and implemented Cyberseries mental health workshops, intergenerational diversity and inclusion sessions using art as a tool for advocacy, a justice-based literacy series called “Real Men Read,” and a pilot Social Justice Teen Institute.

Through our focus on supporting and sustaining Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs), we established a $25,000 endowment at Johnson C. Smith University and mentored college students interested in classical music. On the health front, we have coordinated mobile dental visits to Title I elementary schools and donated funding to C.W. Williams to provide mammograms to underserved women. We have also provided support to the African Diaspora through hurricane relief efforts, implementation of a menstrual equity program and donations to Samaritan’s Feet, International’s mission of providing shoes to needy children.
