The Mardi Gras Gala – Our Signature Fundraising Event

The Crown Jewels (NC) Chapter of The Links, Incorporated has a deep commitment to positively impacting the local community by delivering quality service programs that are aligned with our organization’s National Strategic Objectives.
Members of Chapter include business leaders, elected officials, educators, and professional women from a variety of career fields who contributed over 6600 volunteer hours during the past year towards the administration of our annual Scholarship Program and the implementation of programming that enriches the lives of African Americans in the greater Charlotte community and across the African diaspora.

The Crown Jewels (NC) Chapter of the Links, Incorporated has performed community service activities in the Charlotte metropolitan area for the past 30 years.

Our Highlights:

• Our chapter has awarded over $90,000 in scholarships to high school Seniors to assist with college expenses.

• Through our long-standing partnership with the Phillip O. Berry Academy of Technology, a STEM Magnet high school in Charlotte, we established a junior National Society of Black Engineers Chapter, implemented CyberSeries mental health workshops, hosted intergenerational diversity and inclusion sessions using art as a tool for advocacy, led a justice-based literacy series called “Real Men Read,” and recently a piloted a Social Justice Teen Institute.
• In supporting and sustaining Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs), we established a $25,000 endowment at Johnson C. Smith University and mentored college students interested in classical music.
• On the health front, the chapter has coordinated mobile dental visits to Title I elementary schools and donated funding to C.W. Williams to provide mammograms to underserved women. Internationally, we’ve supported hurricane relief efforts, menstrual equity programs and donations to Samaritan’s Feet International’s mission of providing shoes to needy children.

The Mardi Gras Gala is a well-attended event covered by local newspapers, radio, and television stations. The Crown Jewels (NC) Chapter of The Links, Incorporated looks to the great partners of the community to help ensure the success of our event and each year, we are not disappointed. Their financial support has been instrumental in helping grow our impact in the community.
