Who We Are

The Crown Jewels (NC) Chapter of The Links, Incorporated is all about community, connection, and making a meaningful impact. Through service, scholarship, and philanthropy, we work to uplift and support those in the Charlotte area.

Members of the Crown Jewels (NC) Chapter include professional women from various career fields who have contributed over 5300 volunteer hours during the past year towards implementing programming that enriches the lives of citizens of African descent in the greater Charlotte community and across the African diaspora.

Our Highlights

  • Awarded over $300,000 in scholarships to students to assist with college expenses.
  • Through our partnership with the Phillip O. Berry Academy of Technology, a STEM Magnet high school, we maintained a National Society of Black Engineers Junior Chapter and inducted 74 students. We also hosted career workshops and field trips with NSBE Jr. students and NSBE/National Black MBA Chapters to expose students to careers in broadcasting and environmental engineering.
  • In supporting and sustaining Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs), our $25,000 endowment at Johnson C. Smith University provides scholarships annually. We’ve mentored college students interested in classical music. We’ve also provided financial assistance to graduating students at Morgan State University and international students attending other HBCUs and conducted business etiquette sessions for 200 HBCU students with the Thurgood Marshall College Fund.
  • Provided an arts education scholarship for a student to attend the Charlotte Ballet Academy.
  • Coordinated a Black Family Expo serving over 800 students and their families and donated funding to C.W. Williams Community Health Center to provide mammograms to underserved women.
  • Internationally, we’ve supported literacy and menstrual equity programs, donated elementary school supplies, and provided funds and service to Samaritan’s Feet International.
  • In 2024, the Crown Jewels (NC) Chapter was recognized nationally with an award for its programming excellence at the National Assembly.

This highly anticipated event unites hundreds of people from across the Charlotte area for an unforgettable evening of celebration and community impact. Proceeds from the gala directly support the Chapter’s community programming and scholarships.
